Key Words Used In Search Engines -- Finding This Site

These would be the words entered into various search engines where the person then clicked on the link for this web site.  Keep in mind that the largest single source of all visits to this we site are referred to as "no referral" which generally means that the visitor simply typed in the address of the web to go to it.  This generally would be considered the "word of mouth" type referral.  Click here for that study on this same page. 

Google and Yahoo (the two most popular search engines) accounted for about 25% of the visitors and it THEY whose "key words" are shown on the first chart below.  I had expected that words related to "sex" would be common sources of visitors, but pleasantly surprising is the fact that the number one key word is "happiness."  Glancing down this list, however, next below, you see that a large number of different search terms had something to do with sex. 

This is a period of time during which there were 20,000 visitors to the web. Click here for that data.  Click here for this summary data shown by month -- showing August 2002 as a huge increase -- obviously related to several different new referring web sites -- including "Fatwallet.com" and others. These webs feature offers for "free things" and this web got listed (by unknown) on several as being a place you could get "free books."  It appears that those people were looking for "free books" without regard to the subject of the books.
