Peace? We all achieve peace when all of us, or most of us, have the same view of truth.
No less than your happiness and world peace are the goals for this book.
This web site includes many articles and opinions on the subject of morals. Generally these articles and opinions are here to give you examples of morality in our society.
Morals are a very personal thing. One person can believe something is "moral" while another says the same thing is not moral.
What is then offered to any who wish it, is a free copy of a common sense moral code. You need only to send the request, using the request form, and I will mail you two copies of this book. I send two so that you can keep one and give the other book to someone who is important to you.
The book, you will find, is very different from this web site.
For instance, the book has a moral code that you should behave in such a way as to serve as a good role model for others. The actual code is about one page in length. I think virtually everyone can agree with the morality of behaving in such a way as to be a good role model.
But, the actual book does not give examples of WHO might be a good role model.

THIS web site, however, reflects MY opinions on many matters of morality, including the subject of role models.
Perhaps you recognize the ONE person appearing in two different pictures on the left?
I use Nick Nolte, in my opinion about role model, as an example of a very poor role model.
There may be others, however, who disagree with me on this?
Thus, you and I will probably agree that we should each be good role models to our children and others, but we might strongly disagree on what examples fit our understanding of a "good" role model.
In my opinion Mike Tyson IS a role model, and is a terrible example of a role model. However, there are undoubtedly some millions of young men, probably many of them black, who feel that he is the ideal role model and these men would aspire to be "like" Mike Tyson.
These admirers of Tyson might well agree with me that we each have a moral duty to serve as a role model, and thus each of us could accept the book, the common sense moral code, and embrace it wholeheartedly.
We would agree on THAT moral code, yet disagree on who would be a good role model.
I observe that Tyson spent years in prison for rape and bit the ear off Hollyfield. That is enough for me to call him a terrible role model. Someone else may well observe different things, or judge even what I observe differently.
We can both reach common agreement when we each strive to find and live with truth. I think you'll find the article on truth will help you do that. Thus, it is a key to bridging differences among men with MY web site. You should not find any disagreement, however, with the actual book that I send you.
That concept may well apply to any or all of the moral code. The book is written in way that can be very helpful in guiding you down a path of morality, but it also leaves to you the personal decision on many issues.
For instance, the book says that you should be temperate in your use of alcohol.
I think we can all agree on that.
But, the book does not say that 1 beer is OK, nor does it say that 10 beers are too many.
No, this moral code puts the responsibility on YOU to find the truth for you.
In truth, one person may be drunk with one drink, while another person could drink four and not be "drunk."
How can one moral code be so broad, and not have these specific guidelines?
Because there is one of the codes, about truth, that suggests you have a moral duty to seek after and live with the truth. I have covered that code HERE.
You'll find that recognizing truth is not always easy. Nonetheless, it is your moral duty to seek the truth and detect false information. In my article about truth I also cover the subject of "reality." What is read for you may not be real for me. Examples of that are covered in my article about alcohol, and also about drugs.

Here is a sober guy who is in good mental condition!
He "sees" the truth! |
Something happens to this guy -- we don't know what!

Here is a guy who MAY have a problem!
He does not "see" the truth. The "dog" is real to him! |
The guy drinks a small amount of alcohol -- after previously seeing a cat.

Here is a guy who has just drunk some alcohol. You tell him there is a "cat" there and he say, "no," there is only a dog!
The "dog" is real to him! |
The above is not likely to happen after ONE drink, but it does happen.
The guy drinks more alcohol. It is VERY unpredictable as to what he will SEE when he looks at the cat. He may see the cat, he may see Aunt Mary, he may see a tiger. He may turn in fear to escape4 the tiger, he may try to kiss the cat since he SEES his girlfriend.

Here is a guy who has just drunk lots of alcohol. You tell him there is a "cat" there and he says, "no," there is a tiger -- and shoots it! Or, he runs!
He does not "see" the truth! The "tiger" is real to him! |
There are literally millions of Americans, today, who are convinced, beyond any doubt, that they see a dog while another sees a cat. What is truth?
That is the point. You have a moral duty to seek out, recognize and work with truth.
Many moral codes have been designed where some authority, or religious figure, or God, has laid down in tablets, or such. THIS moral code suggests that YOU are the final authority on what truth is, and gives you some ideas on how to do that.
