Karl Loren is best known on the web for his 100,000 pages on 30 web sites, mostly on the subjects of heart disease and other health subjects. This page is taken from another web site and mostly makes reference to his web pages on health subjects.
You cannot understand this Site without understanding Karl Loren's philosophy on morals and health. In fact, it would be foolish to read ANYTHING on morals without understanding the philosophy of the Author. Here is where you can find the core beliefs that shape the surface concepts presented in various articles written by Karl Loren.
Karl Loren has a separate web site at http://www.karlloren.com and I invite you to visit there. THIS page, on philosophy, is taken directly from the Karl Loren site, and refers to the "Viewpoint" letter -- the published articles by Karl Loren. It should be read as part of the philosophical statement of Karl Loren.
Karl Loren's "retirement plans" and general plans for the future are presented well HERE.
This entire philosophy is that of one man, Karl Loren, who ascribes to a moral code as described in the Book you can get for no cost just by asking on this web.
This Philosophy is also meant to be an invitation to dialogue with you, the reader. I invite you to commend or criticize, question or quarrel; to offer your ideas for consideration of inclusion; to suggest stuff that doesn't belong.
We, Karl Loren and all the others who have offered to help with this web site, believe that man is a spiritual being, occupying a body. We believe that the spiritual being can heal the body, but that he has lost the knowledge of how to do that. This is NOT the message in the Book, just Karl's personal philosophy.
We believe that it is the job of religion to help man recover that knowledge and ability. This web site, devoted to The Common Sense Moral Code is NOT a religious web. This book does not involve prayer or healing.
Karl Loren does not preach religion on these pages, but he suggests that without religion, or a spiritual philosophy, you will not achieve the heights of happiness that are possible.
Karl strongly believe that your health can be greatly improved when you simply give out copies of The Common Sense Moral Code books to your friends. Your health is damaged by the destructive acts of others around you -- just giving people a copy of this book can make a great difference in YOUR health.
We believe that WITHIN the to-be-discovered field of spiritual healing there will be a tremendous alignment between spiritual truths and material truths, that, for instance, prayer can help a thirsty man, but a glass of water is quite acceptable as a practical and, at this stage, preferable alternative. Click Here to read Karl's comments about scientific studies of "prayer."
This does not reduce God in any way, but puts God and glasses of water on a spectrum, with one end of that spectrum appropriate for some situations and the other end of that spectrum appropriate for other situations.
Within this setting, the Karl, as a researcher and autnor on health subjects sets out to discover and publicize those material truths which might align with the higher, spiritual concepts. An important part of putting forth the truth is to also expose the lies. You'll find much exposure of lies on this web site. And, click here for some very fundamental truth about the source of all disease and aging -- truths which are still resisted by the orthodox medical establishment.
Most of those material truths will be very sound science, much of that based on proven concepts within biochemistry and nutrition. BUT, there is much false data floating about, even in the fields of biochemistry. Fortunately, there is no need to appeal to a spiritual source for proof of the legitimacy of some material datum.
You'll find, in the pages of the Karl's writings, plenty of reference to scientific and reputable sources, (literally many thousands of scientific studies presented in "abstract" form === click here for some about cysteine) but you'll also find many exposes of fraudulent and false information -- but always with a careful reference to logical and reasonable supporting data which you can either check out for yourself, or simply judge as being valid.
For instance, among some of the "simple facts" which probably don't need much confirmation from "scientific sources," would be the comment that man is on a downward spiral of health as well as morality. He has, today, worse health than he had yesterday. This simple truth COULD also be supported by all sorts of references to existing literature and statistics, but these pages will often bring you statements of this type, counting on the author's perception of your reality to be so accurate that you will find it easy to accept that these "simple truths."
Man is also on a downward spiral of moral drift.
Many of these truths, and exposes, are published in a special series called "Viewpoints." Click Here to see a list of Viewpoints published so far. (You will be leaving this web site on that click.)
Other data in these pages may be quite new and strange to you -- as, for instance, the data about the role of water in the body. When this is true, it is our Philosophy that our materials should bridge the gap from your lack of data about water in the body to what we present as the truth by way of considerable reference to acceptable research and scientific thought.
So, you should expect to find reason and logic in these pages.
If these pages are beyond your reality, then either we have failed, or you are not ready for this version of the truth.
No philosophy of health, nor Karl's philosophy, could possibly exist without addressing the question:
You may be shocked at the simplicity of a non-spiritual definition of life.
Life can be quantified down to motion. If something is able to move, on its own determinism, then I would judge it to be alive.
Thus a plant, growing in the soil, moves, indeed, turning its head to the sun, and sending its roots to the water.
It may be a tougher question to ask about a seed -- is it alive. For the moment I'll suggest that it is a "promise of life," not life itself. In much this same sense, a virus is a "promise of life," even though often only a diseased life. I have an entire article about the virus and life -- click here to read that.
We can go further and suggest that the entire question of "quality of life" can even be objectified by the concept of motion -- freedom of. This would be another subject, and a worthy one, for another day.
Here, let me simply say that that which is alive can move, self-determinedly, and the more self-determined freedom of movement something has, the "more alive it is."
We'll get, another day, to the obvious further comment that as joints age they lose their freedom of movement, and thus lose a bit of life. And, we can see also that as a gland, or organ, is less able to move as it did during optimum health, then there is a simple change in movement that reflects a change in the quantity (and quality) of life.
Finally, there is such a thing as aberrated life, which would be aberrated motion -- nothing more than compulsive motion, apparently self-determined, but now, figuring in some spiritual talents, motivated by errant thoughts, and thus representing a form of life which is leading toward death and disease rather than optimum health.

Very simply, Karl Loren freely acknowledges the seniority of spiritual matters over material, and more precisely, he recognize that spiritual factors are senior to material factors in understanding, and eliminating, disease and lack of health. The common sense moral code offered here contains no discussion of what you should believe about God.
But, just as he freely acknowledges the seniority of God, or spirituality, in the field of health, Karl Loren is restricted, quite deliberately, and firmly, to matters only in the physical universe. The moral code offered here does not depend on God or any Church.
Thus, we recognize our Philosophy as junior to a workable philosophy, or religion, of matters spiritual. We leave THAT to you, and neither intrude upon that area nor urge our religious beliefs on you. Notice, for instance, that our definition of Life does not involve any religious or spiritual aspect, although we acknowledge that life can only be understood as originated from a non-material source -- spiritual.
The era of surgery and drugs is drawing to a close, while the era of nutrition and biochemistry is zooming to prominence. Karl wrote an article, as a Viewpoint, called "Smokestack Medicine" which you can read by clicking here.
Nutrition, particularly, is currently rife with fads. Karl Loren has done extensive research on a good diet, and offers that on his other web sites.
For instance, most people don't eat enough protein. That simple statement may not seem complicated enough for those searching for magic bullets, but it is the lack of penetration of these simple ideas into the society that is the problem, not the absence of good data.
Let me say that another way.
There can be a thousand great, and true, ideas floating around, but what is so often missing is the evaluation of which is more important. We try to deal with relative importance on these pages -- relative importance among many truths.
Thus, for instance, it may seem overwhelmingly important to you to find out what type of water filter is the best. My answer here would be that this is the wrong question! The more important question is:
Is drinking enough water more important than what type of water it is?
There is posted as one of the Viewpoints, an article about the importance of drinking more water. Currently the faddists spend their time trying to figure out which type of water filter is best. That is the wrong question. The better question to ask is, why can't we get more people to drink more water? Of course the answer to that involves the fact that there is no commercial motivation in getting people to drink more water, and thus few if any messages of that type. THIS is the problem. Our nutrition is currently 99% driven by commercial interests -- which may or often may not coincide with sensible health. There is no commercial value to anyone to encourage you to drink more water. But, in these pages you will find that type of encouragement.
Biochemistry is the scientific technology of the future, but it suffers too. Perhaps it is not faddism that it suffers from, but it certainly suffers from the lack of a bridge to the public, and it also suffers from the problem all science suffers from -- failure to acknowledge the role of spirituality. When a scientist tries to explain all of life without reference to spirituality, he is doomed to failure. But, the preacher who becomes the "expert" in biochemistry, too, can easily fail. What is needed are biochemists who look for and find the place to draw the line -- the line between material and spiritual.
For instance, it will be proven that mental and spiritual factors exercise tremendous influence over the daily function of the endocrine system. While acknowledging this, it is still possible to study the role and function of glands and hormones. What makes a living cell so fascinating is its ability to use a variety of raw materials to continue in its survival. The Biochemist can and should find out what are the BEST nutrients for a cell, or a cell function, but he should not be thrown off by the fact that he finds some cells doing well, others doing poorly, when offered these same nutrients. The spiritual factor can screw up all sorts of scientifically material observations. This should not be a problem as long as spirituality is acknowledged. Remember, we don't think the Biochemist has any business preaching about God.
Finally, there are Four Roads To Ruin in our current state of health as a society. These will be featured in these pages of the Academy:
Mental Factors
As mentioned above, people have to realize that mental and spiritual factors are more important than what vitamins they take, and should accept the fact that we will not, in these pages, offer any advice along this line. Get your own religion, but get it! Don't think you can achieve health while subsisting on a fare of foolish spiritual concepts.
Ignorance Factors
Realize that the first and foremost non-spiritual barrier to your health is your ignorance. Add to that the ignorance of those who would advise you, and, yes, even to cut on you. You are suffering because you take the word of the doctor as an informed advisor. Wrong!
There is so much false information floating around that you will find, in these pages, an emphasis on exposing lies as more important than telling truths!
Don't get alarmed, yet! There is no sense in worrying about smog and its deadly components while you still believe that 60 mg of Vitamin C per day is plenty. Part of the ignorance factor is that people have lots of true data, but don't have the priorities set right.
It isn't enough to know 100 true things. You have, also, to know which of those is more important than another.
Toxic Factors
There is no question that you, as a body made of meat, have ingested into that body large quantities of toxic substances.
In these pages you should learn about what are toxins. Again, when you realize that Coca Cola is a toxic substance, perhaps you'll quit worrying about eating red meat! Again, the priorities must be set.
Whatever are the toxins affecting you, you must learn about detoxification. That will be one of the important subjects for these pages, and for your achieving health.
Finally,
Deficiency Factors
There is no question that people are not getting very important nutrients in their diets, and often not even in their purchased supplements.
These pages of the Academy Site will have lots to say about supplements because that is where the attention of much of the public is. It may be more important for John Public to drink more water than to take more Vitamin C, but the message about Vitamin C will probably be more readily absorbed than one about water.
A movement (such as the Academy) cannot remain above the fray, but must mix with the current attitudes and beliefs of the people. These pages hope to meet people where they are at -- not preach to them about where they should be!
Man differs greatly in his level of awareness.
Story: For many years I owned and operated a janitorial cleaning business. I did lots of janitor work, myself, and gradually got larger and more successful, so that I hired many janitors. I would typically train people who were new to this type of work -- train them by taking them out on a job. I would work alongside.
For instance, I would tell the new guy, "you clean the bathroom while I do the windows," or some such. He would go into the bathroom, and in a while he'd come out. I'd say, "Did you clean the bathroom?" and, of course, the answer was "yes."
Well, you know, I'd go look. Often I would find some obvious dirt -- a piece of dirt sitting there in the middle of the floor.
![]() |
I call him in, and say: "What's that?" He'd look and then usually say: "Oh, I didn't see that." I used to figure that "see" was being used in some philosophical sense -- that, of course, it would be impossible for him to NOT see this piece of dirt which was so plain to me. |
But, I came to realize that, in fact, many people who want to be janitors fail in that work because they physically don't see the dirt.
Later as I have done more observing, I've realized that people in society have very different levels of ability when it comes to "seeing," or "awareness." Some are very good at being aware of food, but can't see animals at all. Some can see girls, but not boys! Tremendously varied.
So, generally, you are more able when you can see more. The "more," of course, must also be to see what is actually there. That's another aspect of awareness. There are people who say they see bugs on the wall. You don't see them. They are seeing illusions. But, they are seeing them, nonetheless. So, you can be aware of illusions or aware of reality.
So, we're getting there now. The highest ability a person can have is the ability to see, accurately, what is really there. A very great many people do not do that very well!
Once you see what is really there, you then have to add in the quality of honesty. Some people can see what is there, but prefer to deny the existence of that reality. For instance, politicians do that all the time when they talk publicly about the Social Security System. It's hard to believe that they are so blind that they cannot see its forthcoming bankruptcy, but they sure don't talk like they have seen that reality!
So, once you have the ability to see, correctly, what is really there, and the character to be honest about any report or message you give on your awareness, you are starting to see the type of abilities and character I bring to this Web Site.
I have what I think is a very highly developed awareness of what is really out there, in the physical universe, particularly in the fields of health and wellness. Further, I have the personal integrity to report honestly to you as to what I see.
Now, if I see illusions, or if I lie to you about what I see, you should not listen to me.
But, if you find that my viewpoint (you see, now, the source of my use of that word on my articles) seems to match reality (which means it matches your view of things, or that you are willing to look through my viewpoint at the world), and if you find me to be honest in my writing, then you can have some considerable confidence in what you find on this Web Site.
On the contrary, when I find someone reporting as truth something which I feel is certainly not truth, I have to conclude that either he is blind or dishonest. Either way he is not a good source of advice on how to run my body.
So, there you have this little part of my philosophy. A man should strive, always, to improve his ability to be aware of the realities, and should adhere closely to a code of honesty that is so obvious that you can feel it in his words.
I invite you to comment back to me as to YOUR impression of my level of awareness and my honesty!
